How we approach it
In manufacturing, the details decide retention
Manufacturing searches rarely fail because nobody could be found. They fail when the hire leaves after three months — and the reason is almost always the same: shift pattern, commute, on-site frequency or overtime intensity was never made explicit at interview.
We confirm every one of those before shortlisting and raise them with candidates directly. Better to lose a few from the shortlist than to discover the mismatch after the start date.
Conditions we always pin down
- Shift pattern — regular day, three-shift or four-shift rotation, and the allowance attached
- Site location and commute — shuttle bus, dormitory or housing allowance
- Overtime pattern, real working hours and how overtime is calculated
- For overseas assignments: duration, rotation frequency and the expatriate package
